As the title says it is about the Apple iPhone 3G in Malaysia. While the iPhone has not been officially launched here, Malaysians can still get their grubby hands on one.
Shopping for iPhones 3G at Lowyat or Sungai Wang will reveal that the prices varies depending on the unlocking method used - hardware unlocked, software unlocked, or the officially unlocked version. Also depending on the memory the Malaysian iPhone 3G 8Gb can cost up to RM2999 and iPhone 3G 16Gb up to RM3200.
An important note that the nearest service centre for the iPhone is at Singapore but it is only applicable for iPhones bought there as you will need to provide a receipt to claim the warranty. Currently there is no service centre in Malaysia; but you could send it to some handphone shops in Malaysia that are able to repair the iPhone.
IPhones Malaysia basically have the same funcions - even the GPS works, tried it on a road trip to Genting Highlands. The iPhone comes with a charger, cleaning cloth, documentation, a sim-removal tool and of course the iPhone itself. Buying an iPhone 3G 8Gb or the iPhone 3G 16Gb in Malaysia? Check out the prices you need to fork out to get one of these beauties!
